How does ECOT fit into my day?

An important reason why students and their families choose ECOT is freedom. Students can work at their own pace in their own homes.

ECOT provides so much learning flexibility that a typical school day is nearly impossible to define. All students do not share the same talents, personalities, academic abilities and extracurricular interests.

During a common day, ECOT students:

- Log into their SEP (Student Electronic Portfolio) through
ECOT's secure web-based network, or intranet;

- Download daily instructions from teacher-created
Web sites linked from their SEP;

- Access highly interactive multimedia lessons
using ECOT's curriculum providers;

- Complete homework in addition to regular online
assignments, most likely with the assistance of a parent
(for elementary levels);

- May go to the library for research;

- May spend anywhere from 1-5 hours online per day,
consecutively or cumulatively;

- May make contact with their teacher(s), either via e-mail,
phone or messages through SEP;

- May engage in school-related learning opportunities
outside the home;

- May participate in a neighborhood club activity or sport;

Through this example, you can see that ECOT students have a flexible schedule to complete their work on time at the pace and in the manner that best suits their learning style.
