All ECOT teachers are certified by the Ohio Department of Education to teach in the State of Ohio. All ECOT teachers hold a bachelor's degree, and many hold a master's or doctorate in their field.

ECOT teachers take graduate-level professional development courses in the form of Continuing Education Units, under the directive of their local professional development committees. This curriculum constitutes for each teacher an Individual Professional Development Plan. Such continuous professional development provides ECOT teachers with the skills to improve their teaching, which in turn serves to further facilitate students' learning and achievement of academic goals.

In support of requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation (www.nclb.gov), ECOT has committed resources to meet or exceed compliance. A full-time NCLB staff is charged with verifying that all measures are being taken to meet the goals of the NCLB act. Such measures include scientific assessment and intervention tools to improve teacher qualification and annual yearly progress.
